Metallica and Three Days Grace join a handful of musicians who have streamed live this year.

Metallica will be taking to the big screen this summer. The band is partnering with Encore Drive in Nights and is the first in the Metal and Rock genres. Filmed close to their home base of San Fran, the livestream will feature Three Days Grace as an opener and shown at numerous Drive In Theaters throughout the US and Canada on August 29th.
Those here in or around the Chi have 3 options – Bridgeview, Hoffman Estates and Elgin. Additional locations in Illinois and those nationwide can be found here

Encore Drive in Nights is a virtual experience event producer and their work has featured Garth Books, Blake Lively and Gwen Stefani. The events are designed to create a fun environment where fans can get lost in the concert experience in a safe setting without the extra concerns of bringing Covid home to their friends and relatives.

Tickets go on Sale on the 14th – unless you are a Fifth Member – those are on sale tomorrow – Wednesday – 8.12. Cost is $115 per car – which can bring in up to 6 people. Split evenly that is a bargain for seeing Metallica, the band’s tickets at Soldier Field averaged $200 in 2018. The cost of the Drive In Ticket includes four downloads of S&M2 – a visual and audio experience of the band’s performance with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.
Little side note – the single “All Within My Hands” launched at #12 on the Billboard dated July 25th. The single earned the title of the highest debut on their Mainstream Rock Songs list. Much better option then Jethro Tull ~

If you’re curious in regard to an experience at the Drive In – we checked out Duff Entertainment’s presentation of Local H at Boomer Stadium last weekend. Hosted by Q101 and WLS – the event was a nice escape and toss back to prior drive in eve’s. We gave a 5 pumpkin star rating – Was wonderful to take a brief step out of reality and back into festival weather.
