Metallica and Three Days Grace join a handful of musicians with further testing of the live stream atmosphere among Covid.

Metallica will be taking to the big screen this summer. The band is the first in the Metal and Rock genres to partner with Encore Drive In Nights. Encore has previously screened successful Drive In events featuring Garth Brooks, Blake Lively and Gwen Stefani.

Filmed near Metallica’s home base of San Fran, the event will feature Three Days Grace as opener and shown at numerous Drive In Theaters throughout the US and Canada on August 29th.

Here in the Chi, we have 3 locals to choose from: Bridgeview, Elgin and Hoffman Estates.
Those outside of the immediate area can find more locations by clicking here.

Encoure Drive in Nights is a virtual experience event producer who create events designed around a fun environment. Fans can get lost in the concert experience without concerns of bringing Covid home with them.

Tickets go on sale on the 14th – unless you are a Fifth Member, then you can purchase starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 8.12 (lucky you!). Cost is a little steep at $115 per car with up to 6 people within each vehicle. Although it can be seen as a bargain when evenly split, some fans are concerned with the high $ ticket amount and cramming car loads.
In comparison, tickets for the bands 2018 stop at Soldier Field averaged $200 minus parking.

The costs of a ticket include 4 digital downloads of S&M2 – a visual and audio experience of the band’s performance with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

On a side note – the single “All Within My Hands” launched at #12 on the Billboard dated July 25th. The single earned the title of the highest debut on their Mainstream Rock Songs list. Regardless if skeptics may say this is not Metal – it’s a nice accomplishment for bands to continue relevancy as years evolve.

If you’re curious in regard to an experience at the Drive In – we checked out Duff Entertainment’s presentation of Local H at Boomer Stadium last weekend.
Hosted by Q101 and WLS – the event was a nice escape and toss back to drive in eve’s prior. Was a bit wonderful to take a brief step out of reality and back into festival season for a hot minute here in Chicago.
