Well, it’s official – Lollapalooza was canceled.

A Chicago Summer without festivals is such a surreal feeling. When again exactly do we get to declare 2020 the year of the Apocalypse?
With deadlines looming close, it was almost a given that many of the remaining festivals still scheduled would have a difficult time of surviving. Still, we waited for official news which came this afternoon.

Could you imagine the festivals at a time of both heightened security and health issues? Social distancing would be a nightmare. We thought waiting in line at the Taste was a test of our patience prior..well.
Who would pick and choose those who would receive refunds over those allowed to attend?

One of the unfortunate casualties of cancellations is the amount of lost tourist and business revenue – and employment ops that come with the events. Chicago has been so far has been the city progressing towards safety first. The risk of spreading further illness or opportunities for crime is most certainly a possibility.

A virtual Lolla flashback weekend sounds like just a nice lift that we’ll need this August. Organizers promise never seen before footage and rare archival sets. Schedule to release this month here — Official Lolla

Our eyes are still on updates from Kuma’s festival and Riot. We are still holding out hope until the bitter end.
