Billy Idol Rocks Naperville Rib Fest

Billy was the encore we needed for rib fest.

No snub towards In Living Color, this year marked 30 years since Vivid was released and shook time. Difficult to believe that it’s been that long already.

The festival has been hosted in Naperville since 1989 – and has been the host of many large acts coming through the area. Visitors can sample award winning ribs, take a spin on rides and enjoy some drinkies before catching the main headliner of the night.

*For those who followed the festival circuit of bands in the 90s, both Chicago Ridge and Naperville probably won best awards on where to catch an act. Lombard started catching up until that festival was discontinued several years ago. Rosemont, Aurora and Addison have been great additions to seeing bands in festival settings –  Rosemont and Addison’s being free of admission. *

This was a good show – a bit muddy towards the end. But! You can’t have a good rock show without some mud! With a muddy yell – sorry

Ribfest is moving to Romeoville next year. What we hope to see is perhaps some more additions to food and fun vendors. The salesman pitch of the vending section is stale. There is speculation that the new area will be approx. the same size as Koch Park, where the festival currently has been held – however there has been no formal public discussion or announcement of the new location.

I’m pretty excited to see Ribfest’s new look next season.
Thanks for the memories!
