In the world of Covid, local car shows have provided a nice escape for those wanting a few hours of cruisin, good food and music.
Pre-Covid, our weekly routine involved checking out a cruiser. Aside from the neat vehicles and cool cats, it was a way for us to check out and meet local foodies that we otherwise would have been blind to. The hidden gems were what we were always in search of – finishing off our evening sharing thoughts of food and weird happenings we usually encounter.
This year is no different. We will still check out the local cruisers and sample food – but this time with additional safety in mind. We’ve already enjoyed the fine experience of having Covid, and without immunity why bother taxing our immunity again? I’ve always considered this as others lined up religiously yearly for their flu shots, most getting sicker then they bargained for. That is a different convo entirely ~ we’ll kick it back to fun days
Tire Swarm has been commencing every Thursday evening at the Brauerhouse and will go on until September/October.
September 12th is the Hardcore Hearse Club’s annual shindig which features music, food, spooky cars and horror vendors.
Lockport cruises every Monday evening from 4 – 8pm. Local Farmers Market – we’ve been diggin heirloom tomatoes as of late
Sunday’s are fun days at Sonic in Villa Park. Summer Car Show is a new share in the area and has a retro feel of Strats
Meadow Independent Speedway is a ghost track – used from 1958 – 1968 in Carpentersville. Now it has been condensed into a Forest and Nature Preserve called Raceway Woods. The echos of prior drags can be heard here – and annually, one day each year fans and enthusiasts returning. This year’s event is held Sept. 12th.
Motoblot – Vintage bikes, Rockabilly, good food and fun. This year’s event has been postphoned until 2021 – however thanks to their friends Drive In Chicago, a socially distanced / mask required rally will be hosted at Toyota Field in Broadview. The event happens on Sunday, August 30th and is $20 per car. This annual event has a super cool feel. Bands, Cobra Lounge beer and this year’s midnight movie – The Warriors (come out and plaaayy).
Check out our gallery below – which includes some pics from last year’s Motoblot event
And Please! Share your photos – we’d love to see them!
